The
J. Benjamin Bedenbaugh Alumni Award
The Rev. Dr. John (Jan) Setzler '69 received the 2005 John Benjamin Bedenbaugh Alumni Award for Distinguished Pastoral Leadership. Pastor Setzler has served Immanuel, Greenwood, SC since 1993. He also served Newberry College from 1979-1993 in various capacities including Chaplain, Assistant Professor of Religion, and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the college. Pr. Setzler has also served Ascension Lutheran in Columbia, SC; Bethel Lutheran, Trenton, NJ; and St. John's Lutheran in Clinton, SC, since his ordination on June 2, 1969.
Dr. Jan Setzler has also served the larger church and communities in which he has lived through a variety of roles such as adjunct faculty for the Medical University of South Carolina College of Nursing (Parish Nurse Program), Board of Trustees for the Lutheran Homes of SC, South Carolina Synod representative to LARCUM dialogues, Member of the Board of Congregational Life-ELCA, and Chaplain in the U.S. Army. According to tradition, he preached Thursday in Christ Chapel during Alumni Days in 2005.

All LTSS alumni are welcome to borrow books from the Lineberger Memorial Library. You may borrow up to five books at one time for four weeks [with two renewals].
