General Information
Photocopier
The library photocopier is located in the main entrance hallway. The copying charge is 10 cents per copy. The machine will make change for $1,$5. and $10 bills.
Cluster Loans
Our database ECCO contains the holdings of our Eastern Cluster seminary libraries. Because of this, you will be able to locate and check out books from Philadelphia and Gettysburg. You will find these items in our database with the location names of PHILA and GETTY. In order to check out an item from one of these locations, please ask for a form at the circulation desk. Please plan ahead when making a cluster request. Since all items are shipped using the postal service it can take a week or longer for your item to be delivered. Items cannot be sent priority mail. Your request will be processed that day and you will be notified when the book is available for pickup (approximately 1 week). You may be charged a $5.00 fine if you do not pick up an item that you have requested. Only 5 books at a time may be borrowed from the cluster libraries.
Interlibrary Loans
Interlibrary loans are available to all current students who may need books or journal articles which the library does not own.
Reserves
Materials placed on reserve by faculty are located behind the circulation desk. They are shelved in call number order and are retrieved by the staff member at the desk. To find the call number of the book you need, click on the course reserve tab in the online catalog. You can search by instructor's name or course name. Reserves can be checked out by current students and may not leave the building except 30 minutes before closing for overnight use, to be returned at the opening of the library the next day. Only two reserve books may be checked out at a time in two hour increments, but may be renewed if no one else is waiting.
Detection System
Lineberger Memorial Library has a Checkpoint Detection System that alerts staff to the unauthorized removal of books, journals, tapes, and other library materials. If it should alarm as you are leaving, return to the circulation desk. It will not erase or harm magnetic tapes, disks, or interfere with pacemakers.
Children's Collection
In large part thanks to the generosity of the seminary Auxiliary, we have been able to expand our collection of children's books and we have put them in a separate area in the center part of the second floor.
The classification is very simple: very basic picture books and easy readers in PZ7, and in PZ8 more advanced books (up through middle school). The collection is not large, but of very good quality and has proved a great success with the young people of the seminary community.
