Financial Realities
The operations of the seminary rely on individual, congregational, synodical, and churchwide support. These sources of support are supplemented by grant awards from foundations and trusts, as well as income draws from the seminary endowment. Without any one of these support areas, the seminary would be severely hampered in fulfilling the mission with which it has been charged.
As an example, in fiscal year 2007, churchwide and synodical support accounted for 16% of Southern Seminary’s budget and gifts from donors made up an additional 21% of what it cost to raise up the next generation of public ministers that fiscal year.
