Atlanta Director Accepts New Call in Chicago

ATLANTA-Executive Director of the Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta (LTCA), the Rev. Lawrence J. Clark, will leave his position to accept a new call to become the pastor of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois.
He is the fourth director of LTCA since its inception 21 years ago, and the first alumnus to serve in the position. Clark will continue to serve LTCA until June 30, 2009. No immediate plans for the next director have been announced. 
As the director, Clark has brought his pastoral and administrative experiences to the classroom and to those discerning God's call to ministry. He lifted the visibility of the program through working with various ministry partners within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and with other religious organizations. Upon his departure, he will have served the program for almost 3 years.
LTCA develops leadership for the ELCA through diverse experiences and intensive theological study. It is networked with the eight ELCA seminaries to provide unique study opportunities in urban issues and diverse cultures. The program is located on the campus of the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, the largest African American seminary in the United States.
"I will greatly miss the faculty, staff and students of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and being on the campus of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, 'where students enter and leaders depart,' and being a part of a Vocational discernment process with students and other interested in ministry," says Clark. "I look forward to sharing my gifts in my new call with people of St. Mark, which has been serving the Chesterfield Community on the Southside of Chicago for 103 years."
