Future Church Leaders to Graduate

Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary will award 38 theological degrees at its commencement to be held on Friday, May 15, 2009, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Columbia.
The graduates represent eight different Christian denominations and are representative of regions of the country from the Rocky Mountains to the Atlantic seaboard. The 26 graduates from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), of which the seminary is affiliated, represent 14 synods from across the country.
The seminary awards three academic degrees, Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Religion, and Master of Sacred Theology. In addition to these degrees, the seminary will be awarding two Doctor of Divinity honorary degrees to Michael Creed Maxey, President of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, and the Rev. Dr. Philip Lok Oi Peng, Bishop of the Lutheran Church in Malaysia and Singapore.
Graduates of the seminary go on to serve in congregations, church organizations, and non-profit organizations across the country. Many graduates already have been called to specific ministry settings, including ones in South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Others have been assigned regions of the country, such as the southeast and California, and are awaiting calls.
Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary is a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and offers advanced degrees for public ministry and church service to Lutherans and multiple other Christian denominations.
