Emeritus Faculty Member to be Honored

The James R. Crumley, Jr. Archives will honor the Rev. Dr. Carl F.W. Ficken, Professor of Theology and Culture, Emeritus, with the Walton H. Greever Award at its Annual Banquet. 
 
Rev. Dr. Carl F.W. FickenDr. Ficken will receive the award for his distinguished service to church and society.  In addition to being a professor at Southern Seminary, he was a parish and campus pastor, Director of the Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta, and professor at a number of colleges, universities, and seminaries.  He is also a past president of the Crumley Archives.
 
The Walton H. Greever Award is given annually to a recipient who exhibits the characteristics of service of Dr. Greever.  Dr. Greever was an author, publisher, editor, seminary professor, pastor, businessman, and philanthropist.  His service to both church and society serves as a model for Lutheran leaders today.
 
The banquet will be held on Friday, November 6 at 6:00PM and will be held at the Embassy Suites, Columbia, SC.  A silent auction will be held during the evening to benefit the archives.  Keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. William B. Trexler, chair of the seminary Board of Trustees and retired pastor and bishop.
