Applicants must have or be completing requirements for a bachelor's degree with at least a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited institution.

Autobiographical Essay
Complete an autobiographical sketch setting forth in 600-800 words:
- Your reasons for applying to the seminary;
- An assessment of your strengths and weaknesses as a candidate for ordination or lay professional service; and
- The significant events of your life, your Christian experience, your relationship to the church
- ELCA applicants may fulfill the above request by submitting a copy of the autobiographical essay prepared for their synodical Candidacy Committee.

References
The letter of recommendation forms should be signed, if you choose, and given immediately to the following referees:
- Your Pastor
- A member of your Congregation Council
- A Faculty Member or an Advisor in an academic setting. If you have been out of school for an extended period of time, then a supervisor or peer who is acquainted with your academic abilities.
- A Non-relative Lay Person who has known you in a leadership role or professional setting.

Official Transcripts
Of all college and graduate work. The Registrars of each of the institutions attended should send the transcripts directly to the Admissions Office. The post-graduation (college) transcript should be mailed to the seminary at the earliest possible date after commencement.
