Specialized Programs and Centers

Along with providing traditional theological education, Southern Seminary is home to a number of specialized programs and centers that enhance the world of religion.

Faculty Lead Study Tours - Study tours are given by faculty members to the seminary community and are usually open to the public.  These tours to religious sites around the globe are not typical vacation packages, but theological tours built to better understand the Christian faith.

The Center on Religion in the South is a program of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. For more information, contact Dr. Susan W. McArver at (803) 461-3227 or email at smcarver@ltss.edu.

Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta (LTCA) is a partnership for theological education among the Vocation and Education Unit, Evangelical Outreach and Congregation Mission, Multicultural Ministries Units and the eight (8) seminaries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

The James R. Crumley Jr. Archives (Region 9 Archives) is the official archives of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, North Carolina Synod, South Carolina Synod, Southeastern Synod (Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee), Florida-Bahamas Synod, former Tennessee Synod, Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries, and Region 9 Administrative Office; partners with Caribbean Synod, Virginia Synod, Newberry College, and Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, Inc.

The Eastern Cluster of Lutheran Seminaries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America prepares the Church’s servant-leaders to minister in a 21st century world. Three seminaries combine rigorous academics with experiential and contextual learning in lively worshipping communities to equip capable and committed women and men for the public ministries of the church.
